Keshi, Encouraged By Eagles’ Performance Against Mexico
Super Eagles Coach, Stephen Keshi is encouraged by the performance of his wards against Mexico and says they will be even stronger when they meet Kenya today.
The Super Eagles, missing several key players and blooding some fresh legs, fought their way back from a goal down to go up 2-1 before giving up a goal to draw 2-2 against 10-man Mexico.
Keshi praised the gutsy effort that produced the draw against the Central American champions.
“We showed good stuff against Mexico despite missing a number of players and we will even be stronger in Nairobi. I am looking forward to three points on Wednesday,” Keshi said as the Nigeria delegation boarded the plane in Houston to fly back to Frankfurt, Germany enroute Kenya
Keshi’s optimism seemed to derive in part from the expected availability of influential midfielders John Mikel Obi and Fegor Ogude along with Russia-based forward Ahmed Musa.
All three joined the squad for the flight to East Africa. The team flew aboard a Lufthansa Airline flight to Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) last Monday night, before connecting an Ethiopian Airline flight to Nairobi, arriving in the Kenyan capital in the early hours of yesterday.
