Confed Cup: Rangers Want NPFL To Reschedule Matches
The Rangers International FC of Enugu has appealed to the Nigerian Professional Football League to re-scheduled its league matches.
The appeal followed the club’s continental engagements, particularly its final preliminary round CAF Confederations match against S.C. Sfaxien of Tunisia yesterday in Enugu.
A statement by the Director of Media and Publicity, Foster Chime, said the re-schedule would help the team to focus properly in its preparation for oncoming engagements.
Chime said the team resumed preparatory camping outside Enugu last week to elicit a successful outing against the Tunisian side both at home and away.
He also appealed to the Nigeria Football Federation to reconsider the stringent schedule of clubs involved in continental competitions for leverages in the domestic engagements to allow for optimal performance.
The spokesman also denied that the team requested for the rescheduling of the Week 11 match against Bayelsa United.
“The management officially communicated NPFL to allow us play the Week 11 match against Bayelsa United on Sunday, May 12, while we asked for the rescheduling of the Week 10 match against Wikki Tourists of Bauchi,” he said.
Chime had declared that the match against S.C. Sfaxien of Tunisia yesterday was a must-win and urged the club’s fans to always come out en masse to support their team.
