League Dispute: NFF Urges Managers To Stay Action
Nigeria club managers have been asked to ‘maintain status quo’ over their dispute with the League Management Company pending a meeting scheduled for next week by the Nigeria Football Federation NFF.
Some club managers, contesting the legitimacy of the league orgnaising body, met last Monday and resolved to distance themselves from the body.
But the LMC, which received a vote of confidence from the NFF only last week, remained unperturbed by the development, with Media Committee Chairman Mike Enahoro saying the body “remains focused on the mandate given to it by the NFF” and would not be “distracted by any form of disturbances”.
NFF Secretary General, Musa Amadu said the federation has noted the resolution of the league chairmen, and has directed them to stay action pending a meeting next week.
“We have seen the resolutions from their meeting”, Amadu told newsmen.
“In view of what is at stake, we have told them that they should maintain status quo to allow the league matches of today and this weekend to continue to allow the smooth running of the League.
“The (NFF) president has scheduled a meeting of all parties for Tuesday, April 30, where we expect that all outstanding issues will be resolved”.
In the meantime, Enahoro says reforms will continue: “The process of reforms will continue for the long term benefit of Nigerian football”.
