Amaechi Charges LG Boss On Security
Rivers State Governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, has sworn-in the newly elected Chairman of Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area, Mr. Augustine Doctor Ahiamadu and his deputy, Ego Paula Ahaikwo with a charge to give security top priority.
Speaking shortly after they were sworn-in at Government House, Port Harcourt, Governor Amaechi said above every other thing security of lives and property should be pursued considering the swelling kidnapping and other crimes in the area.
The governor also urged the new council chairman to give attention to infrastructure and human capacity development in ONELGA as he equally tasked him to be transparent and accountable to the people.
“There is no human capacity development without infrastructure because first and foremost, what is human capacity development, if you start building infrastructure human beings will be employed to build these infrastructure. That is also human development, so you need to deliver to the people”, he said.
He stressed the need for the new leadership in Onelga to ensure fair distribution of the dividends of democracy to every part of the local government area made up of people from Ogba, Egbema and Ndoni.
He also spoke about the need for a political environment which would throw up more women to become council chairpersons in the state.
Amaechi expressed delight that for the second time a woman was occupying the seat of a vice-chairman, “ I don’t want anybody disadvantaged so thank God there is a woman.” He noted that his administration would ensure that women were given adequate representation in governance by having more women in elective positions .
