Public Complaints Commission Receives 3,002 Petitions In Rivers
The Public Compliants Commission (PCC) in Rivers State, has received 3,002 petitions within the last one year.
The Commissioner in-charge of the State at the Commission, Chief Stephen Ezekwerem, who disclosed this in an exclusive interview with The Tide recently in Port Harcourt said that, 2,418 of the petitions have been resolved, while 584 are still pending.
Chief Ezekwem was working hard to ensure that the petitions that are pending received adequate attention.
He said that the volume of petitions received so far was an indication that people are beginning to recognise the importance of the commission in the scheme of things.
Ezekwem said that, the Commission, which was initiated in 1975 under the military administration of Late Murtala Mohammed, suffered serious setback as there were no commissioner for eighteen years.
He said that this long years of neglect was responsible for the slow progress of the commission bet noted that the society was beginning to appreciate the importance of the Commission.
Chief Ezekwem, who was a former Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, also said that the Commission has worked hard to strengthen employers and employees relationship within the past one year.
He said that the Commission remains open to all aggrieved members of the society, and commended the Rivers State Governor, Rt Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, for his people oriented projects in the State.

RSG INAUGURATES ARMED FORCES REMEMBRANCE DAY COMMITTEE
The Rivers State Government has inaugurated a Central Planning Committee to organize the celebration of the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day (AFRD) in the State.
The committee was formally inaugurated by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Benibo Anabraba in Port Harcourt, last Thursday.
Dr Anabraba who also serves as Chairman of the Committee
highlighted the State Government’s deep appreciation for the sacrifices of Nigeria’s fallen heroes who laid down their lives for the nation’s peace and unity.
“These heroes have given their lives for the security and peace of our nation and deserve to be celebrated. The Armed Forces Remembrance Day is an opportunity to show our gratitude for their sacrifice,” he said.
Dr. Anabraba further extended recognition to all Security Agencies in the State, emphasizing the importance of the event in appreciating their contributions to national security and sovereignty.
The annual Armed Forces Remembrance Day, observed on January 15 across the country is dedicated to remember Nigeria’s departed soldiers and honouring the nation’s veterans.
