RSG Gets Kudos For Distributing Seedlings To Farmers
The Engenni Community Initiatives for Conservation and Development (ECICD) has commended the Rivers State Government for its responds in distributing farm seedlings to the flood victims in the state.
The president of ECICD Willy Ayondado who made the commendation in an interview with The Tide last Friday said the distribution of the seedlings will give hope to many homes that have lost hope of survival after the flood.
Ayonodado who had earlier urged the government and cooperate bodies to assist the flood victims, stating the seedling distributed the government would ensure planting of food during the next harvesting season.
The President of the group urged those incharge for the distribution of the seedling to ensure that all the affected families and communities gets the crops.
According to him “most families and communities are farmers, the gesture from the state government will help the affected families to bounce back to lives.
Ayondado also expressed gratitude to the state for responding to the needs of the people and urged those incharge for the distributing process to ensure that those effected get the items as recommended by the government.
He also commended the people for their patient and understanding during and after the flood which affected most parts of Ahoada West and other local government areas.
It would be recalled that Rivers State government last week distributed farm seedling to communities across the local government areas affected by the recent flood disaster in the state.
Chairman of the flood committee, Engr Tele Ikuru while handing over the seedlings to the chairman of Abua/Odual, Mr. Udi Oduru, Ahoada East, Chief Cassidy Ikegbidi, Ahoada West, Mr. Awori Miller and Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni, Mr. Raymond Nwokocha respectively said the government of Anucha deem it necessary to intervene with a view to ameliorating the plight of the victims of the flood disaster.

FG, Ogun Distribute Inputs To 2,400 Farmers
Federal Government and the Ogun State Government, on Wednesday, distributed farm inputs to farmers as part of effort to address food security challenge.
The State Director, Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, Dr. Toyin Ayo-Ajayi, during the flag-off ceremony of Inputs Redemption Under The National Agricultural Growth Scheme-Agro Pocket (NAGS-AP), in Ogun State, disclosed that beneficiaries of the gesture were primarily rice, maize and cassava farmers across the State.
Ayo-Ajayi commended the Ogun State Government for partnering with the government at the centre for the effort in supporting farmers with inputs that would bring about yieldings for local consumption and likely exportation.
She noted that government is supporting rice, cassava and maize farmers with inputs worth N212,000; N189,000 and N186,000 respectively.
The Permanent Secretary in the State Ministry of Agriculture, Mrs Kehinde Jokotoye, who represented the Commissioner in the Ministry, Bolu Owotomo, stated that traditional farmers are critical in food production, hence the need to encourage and support them with inputs that would bring about desired results during harvesting.
Owotomo said: “Let us make good use of this opportunity, so that the success of this phase will make farmers benefit more from the state and federal governments of Nigeria.”
Earlier, State Coordinator, Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, Dr. Oluwatoyin Ayo-Ajayi, appreciated the present administration for partnering with the federal government for the initiative, adding that the programme is designed to support farmers at the grassroots level in cassava, rice and maize with inputs such as, seeds, pesticides, herbicides and fertilizers, to boost their production and enhance their livelihood.
