General Manager, Corporate Communications, Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Mr Yakubu Dati, last Thursday said that there was a minor fire outbreak at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos.
Dati who said this in a news release made available to aviation correspondents, added that the fire lasted for about 15 minutes.
He said that prompt intervention of the fire service attached to the airport immediately brought the fire under control.
“There were no casualty. The only fallout of the incident was the switching off of the power source which has since been restored.
“Normal activities at the airport which were not interrupted by the fire have continued as planes are taking off and landing without hitches.
“We remain committed to providing secure, safe and comfortable airport environment as enshrined in the aviation master plan, “ he said.
Dati commended the rapid response of the officers and men of the fire department and other relevant agencies for restoring normalcy at the airport.
