Agency Donates Books, Medical Tools To LGAs
The Rivers State Sustainable Development Agency (RSSDA) has donated books and telephone directory to the some Local Government Areas and the Rivers State Senior Secondary Schools Board for distribution to schools in the state some of the books involve a work book on flight discovery, gases structure, a textbook on Animal without back bone, Guide to world processing computer, introducing electricity magnetic power using Energy a textbook and work book respectively, a textbook and workbook on Atoms / Molecules, a text book on investigating light planet Earth and planet life and a text book on computer studies.
Others include, a text book on standard English language amongst others.
The Agency also donated surgical equipment to the Rivers State Health Management Board for distribution to six hospitals in the state.
The equipment include: kidney dishes, galliport retractor, gochar towel forceps, by Artery forceps and mosquitoes Artery.
Others include Barbcork Scissors, needle holder bord, Parker handle, Installment trays and sterilizsing drums.
The executive Director of the Agency, Mr Noble Pepple said that the gesture was aimed at promoting sustainable livelihood and capacity building in the state.
Also speaking, the Rivers State Commissioner for Local Government and Community Affairs, Hon Samuel Eyiba said that the donation will go along way in improving the standard of living of the people.
Hon Eyiba however stressed the need for beneficiaries of the items to put them into proper use.
In an interview with The Tide, the commissioner stressed the need for chairmen of the Local Government Council in the State, to go into partnership inline with the Rivers State Public Private Partnership (PPP) law to improve the quality of services to the people.
Also speaking, the chairman of Emohua Local Government Council, Hon Allen Nma and his Opobo / Nkoro counterpart maclean uranta said that the books will be judiciously utilized by the respective Local Government Areas and commended the Agency for the gesture.

HYPREP Tightens Security At Project Sites
Following the rupture of the ground tank of its water facility in Ebubu Community in Eleme Local Government Area of Rivers State, the Hydrocarbon Pollution Remediation Project (HYPREP) has tightened security across all its project sites in Ogoniland.
HYPREP, which dropped this hint in a statement signed by its Head of Communications, Dr Enuolare Mba-Nwigoh, said the Project Coordinator, Prof Nenibarini Zabbey had given the directive for security to be tightened across all its project sites in Ogoniland.
Mba-Nwigoh noted that the tightening of security across the project sites has become necessary to forestall interference with the facilities.
He further disclosed that following the rupture of the ground tank of the Ebubu water facility, a team led by HYPREP’s Director of Technical Services, Prof Damian-Paul Aguiyi has visited the scene of the incident to assess the situation, stressing that the water facility has been cordoned off for public safety.
The statement indicated that following the incident, HYPREP has henceforth barred non-project personnel and non-facility staff from gaining access into any of its active project sites in Ogoniland without authorisation.
While appealing to residents of Ebubu Community and the public to remain calm, the Head of Communications assured them that the Project is taking prompt steps to restore water to the community, saying, the cause of the unfortunate incident is being investigated.
He equally noted that the Chief Security Officer of HYPREP has been directed to immediately tighten security across all its project sites in Ogoniland.
The statement said HYPREP is deeply concerned about the incident, stressing that despite the setback, the Project reiterates its commitment to delivering sustainable cleanup in Ogoniland.
