Lagos Swimmers Set To Sweep Medals At Championships
Team Lagos Swimming Coach for the forthcoming 18th National
Sports Festival, Ope Eyiola, has said
that her team would sweep the medals at the impending 3rd Lagos Open Age-Group
Championships.
The age-group championship holds between yesterday and today
at the Teslim Balogun Stadium in Surulere, Lagos.
Eyiola told newsmen in Lagos that the two-day championships
would further prepare the state’s swimmers for the national sports fiesta
scheduled to hold in Lagos between November 27 and December 9.
According to her, the competition which is organised by the
Lagos State swimming association, was being thrown open to enable the state’s
swimmers to compete with swimmers from other states and gain more experience,
ahead of the sports festival.
“The championships, sponsored by the state government, will
not only prepare our swimmers for the festival, but will also enable them to
gain more experience by competing with swimmers from others states,” she said.
Eyiola said that the first, second and third place winners
in every category at the championships would be rewarded with cash prizes.
