Eneramo Upset By Omission From Super Eagles
Striker Michael Eneramo believes he deserves a recall to the
Nigera squad after scoring 15 goals for his club Sivasspor last season.
That record made the 26-year-old the leading Nigerian
marksman in Turkey.
But Eneramo has been overlooked by Super Eagles coach
Stephen Keshi for the 2014 World Cup and 2013 African Cup of Nations
qualifiers.
“I’m a bit disappointed to have been neglected. I wonder
what more I have to do to be included,” he told Tidesports source.
“I will continue to
let my performance speak for me and I believe that my time will come”
“I know there are a lot of equally good strikers out there
but everyone should be given an equal opportunity regardless of the league they
play in.”
Eneramo has made 11 appearances for Nigeria and scored four
goals, the last of which came in his most recent outing for the Super Eagles
against Madagascar almost two years ago in Calabar.
He is competing with other in-form strikers like Ikechukwu
Uche, Osaze Odemwingie, Emmanuel Emenike and Brown Ideye.
Uche is with relegated Spanish side Villarreal after playing
last season on loan at Granada, Odemwingie plays for Premier League side West
Brom, Emenike plies his trade at Spartak Moscow in Russia and Ideye is based in
Ulkraine with Dynamo Kiev.
While Eneramo accepts competition is fierce, he is confident
he will get another chance on the international stage.
