Mrs Amaechi Urges Priority On Education
Wife of the Rivers State Governor, Dame Judith Amaechi, has
charged Nigerians to pay high premium on investment in the education sector.
Mrs Amaechi stated this during the commissioning of nursery and primary
schools built by the Abundant Life Evangel Mission (ALEM) in Port Harcourt.
She stated that investment in education was the surest way
of arresting social menace bedevilling the nation.
“I want to say that the negligence of our education sector
is responsible for some of the challenges facing the nation, we must redouble
our effort to reclaim its lost glory and to make this sector work”.
The governor’s wife, who commended the school project said
the initiative would complement the state government’s effort in its
determination to provide quality education to the citizenry.
Mrs Amaechi urged Christians to live up to their
responsibility of moulding children with the fear of God, and charged them to
imbibe doctrines that would promote religious tolerance, peace and unity in the
country.
Earlier in his speech, the Guest Preacher, Reverend Uma
Ukpai urged Christians to live exemplary lives that can bring glory to the
Almighty God. “Any man who must command grace, must obey the commandment of
God”, he said.
Other dignitaries at the event included the Deputy Governor,
Engr. Tele Ikuru and his wife, Dr. Mina Ikuru, among others.
