Police Caution Officers Against Criminality
The Rivers State Police Command, has threatened to deal ruthlessly with any police officer that indulges in criminal activities.
The State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Mohammed Ndabawa who said this during a courtesy call on him by the executive of the Rivers Youth Movement (RYM) in Port Harcourt also said that the command is collaborating with the public to enhance crime prevention in the state.
The Police Commissioner who was represented by the Deputy Commissioner of Police incharge of Operations, DCP Habilla Joshak, said that the Police needs the confidence of the public to check crimes in the state.
He thanked the Rivers Youth Movement (RYM) for pledging to partner with the police, noting that it would provide opportunity for regular interaction with larger segments of Youths with a view to enlightening them against criminal tendencies.
In his address, the President General of Rivers Youth Movement (RYM) Engr. Richard Alete said the visit was to explore areas of collaboration with the Police with the view to checking crimes in the state.
Engr. Alete said that the RYM is delighted with the efforts of the Police Commissioner and the entire command in crime prevention and control, stressing that, Rivers State has in the last one year witnessed a reduction in kidnapping and armed robbery.
The RYM President General who stressed the need for on enlightenment programme on crime to schools in the state, also urged for community policing in the state.
Engr. Alete also used the occasion to solicit the support of the Police during the forthcoming local Government Congresses of the Movement.
