Court Docks Engineer For Fraud
A civil engineer practising in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Engr Henry Jumbo, has been arraigned before a Port Harcourt Chief Magistrate Court for alleged fraud.
Jumbo, 41, an indigene of Bonny Local Government Area of the state, was arraigned on a two-count charge bordering on fraud and stealing before a chief magistrate court presided over by H.I. Osamakoo.
The Tide learnt that the accused person, in September, 2011, collected the sum of N1,077,900.00 from Senibo E. J. Fubara as cost of building a two-bedroom apartment at Rumualogu village in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of the state.
The Tide further learnt that the accused person also collected the sum of N76,000 from Senibo Fubara as money paid for the registration of the building plan which he never did.
The prosecuting police officer, Inspector Karigbo Fredrick told the court that the accused person, on the 20th September, 2011, at No 33, Nsirim Street, Mile 4, Rumueme, within Port Harcourt magisterial district with intent to defraud, did obtain from Senibo Fubara, the sum of N1,770,900.00.
The prosecution further alleged that the acused person, on the 28th of November, 2011, at the same place in the afore said magisterial district, did steal one trip of sharp sand valued at N10,000, seven bags of cement N11,900.00, and fraudulently converted monies meant for manson, stacking of blocks, water, building plan registration and sewage pit valued at N114,000.
According to the police prosecution, the accused person committed the offence punishable under section 419 and 390(8)(a)(b) of the criminal code cap 37 vol. 11 laws of Rivers State of Nigeria

RSG INAUGURATES ARMED FORCES REMEMBRANCE DAY COMMITTEE
The Rivers State Government has inaugurated a Central Planning Committee to organize the celebration of the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day (AFRD) in the State.
The committee was formally inaugurated by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Benibo Anabraba in Port Harcourt, last Thursday.
Dr Anabraba who also serves as Chairman of the Committee
highlighted the State Government’s deep appreciation for the sacrifices of Nigeria’s fallen heroes who laid down their lives for the nation’s peace and unity.
“These heroes have given their lives for the security and peace of our nation and deserve to be celebrated. The Armed Forces Remembrance Day is an opportunity to show our gratitude for their sacrifice,” he said.
Dr. Anabraba further extended recognition to all Security Agencies in the State, emphasizing the importance of the event in appreciating their contributions to national security and sovereignty.
The annual Armed Forces Remembrance Day, observed on January 15 across the country is dedicated to remember Nigeria’s departed soldiers and honouring the nation’s veterans.
