Warri Wolves Target Return To Continent
The Head Coach of Warri Wolves FC, Edema Fuludu, has said that the team would need motivation from the coaching crew for an improved performance in the league.
Fuludu told newsmen in Lagos that the management would have to work hard on the mindset of the players to psyche them up.
He said that the club’s major objective was to ensure that it won its outstanding matches in order to take maximum points that would enable it to return to the continent next season.
“I am working hand in hand with the technical adviser to ensure that the team was properly motivated for the challenges ahead because we have not performed well in the last three games.
“We need to help these boys psychologically, we really need to psyche them up to bring the best out of them and we need to talk to them to come out and more powerfully.
“Our main objective is to give our all to the five outstanding matches and move up and I am confident of that with luck on our side,’’ Fuludu said.
The former Super Eagles player said that the team must do everything within its powers to climb up the NPL table in order to improve on its current ninth position.
“We are currently occupying the ninth position which is not good enough for a team with continental ambitions; we will try as much as possible to win our matches,’’ he said.
When asked if the current form of the players could be attributed to the recurring issue of delayed salaries and allowances, he said the club was striving hard to meet its obligations.
“That is a general phenomenon in Nigeria, there are usually delays and the delay in making payment is not the function of the coach, it’s the duty of the management.
“But we still inform the management of the players’ plight, but in our club we always pay even if it’s not timely.
“But we pay because we don’t want any excuse from the players that will affect their performance,’’ the coach said.
Wolves’ week 31 match with Rising Stars was abandoned on Wednesday with scores at 1-1 in Warri after a Rising Stars’ player was alleged to have been assaulted.
