Imo Govt Loses N650m Monthly To Ghost Workers …As Okorocha Offers N1m For Information On Kidnapping
The Imo State Government has pledged to
plug all loopholes through which the civil service was siphoning a whooping
N650million monthly through ghost workers, assuring that the government would
deal ruthlessly with those found to have embezzled such amount.
Similarly, the recent sleepless nights of
the Imo State Governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha over the incessant
kidnapping/armed robbery in the state has prompted him to stake a whooping sum
of N1,000,000 for any person that might
volunteer any information to the security agencies in the state.
Governor Owelle pointed out that for any information to qualify for such an
offer, the supposed kidnapper(s) should have been interrogated and proven to
have participated in the crime.
Governor Owelle Rochas Okorocha had also
pronounced the sum N100,000 for any informant that would volunteer an authentic
and certified information about anybody in possession of an unlicensed gun(s)
in the state.
The amiable governor equally promised the
sum of N50,000 to anybody that would return his unauthorized personal gun to
the government, while N200,000 would go to anybody that would return his or her AK-47.
Owelle made the above pronouncements during
an interaction with the Imolites recently which he termed, “The Journey so
far”.
The event, which was held at Ahiajoku
Convention Centre, New Owerri, attracted all the traditional rulers, civil
servants, the media and expanded executive of the state.
The Imo Governor, used the opportunity to
announce the deposition of N100m into a special account that would take charge
of all the demands of positive informants. He equally reminded the people of
the state of his readiness to maintain a free- corrupt state in line with his
campaign promises.
He intimated people about some of his
developmental achievements which include free education, health transformation,
unemployment reduction and agricultural enhancement.
