Envoy Wants Greater Cameroon, Nigeria Economic Cooperation
The Cameroon consul in Calabar, Nigeria, His Excellency Michel Auguste Atangana, has called for greater economic cooperation between Cameroon and Nigeria to better the lots of both countries’ citizenry.
Atangana who made the call at the inauguration of the new executive of Cameroon Community in Nigeria (CCN) in Port Harcourt, said there was need to strengthen economic ties of both countries to promote trade and investment in the countries.
Representing the Cameroon Hig Commissioner in NIgeria, Salhadine Abba, Atangana remarked that Cameroon and Nigeria have long standing relationship that needs to be sustained in the years ahead.
He, however advised citizens of Nigeria and Cameroon to see themselves as brothers and work towards promoting the socio-economic, cultural and political interest of both countries.
He told the new leadership of CCN that they should re-double their commitment in uniting Cameroonians in Nigeria for common goal even as he assured them of his maximum support to succeed.
A Cameroonian business executive in Nigeria and Chairman at the occasion, Chief Polycarp Ndounteng, shared the same sentiment concerning Nigeria and its neighbour, Cameroon, and called for continuous relationship.
Chief Ndounteng, said at the occasion that attracted many Cameroonians from all states of the federation to Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital that there are greater economic opportunities for Cameroonians resident in Nigeria to explore, and urged them to do so within laid down regulations and the law.
The Cameroonian businessman commended the developmental strides of Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi and solicited support of residents of the state to enable the governor deliver more dividends of democracy to the people.
The President-General, Cameroon Community in Nigeria, Mr Takam Celestin, in his speech, expressed gratitude to the tremendous contributions of state delegates at the CCN convention and pledged the commitment of the new national leadership of CCN to re-shape, re-define and refine common identity for collective growth.
