Nigeria Drops In FIFA Rankings
Nigeria’s non-participation at the 2012 African Nations Cup has brought instant consequences as the country tumbled down in the latest FIFA Rankings.
The Super Eagles plummetted 11 places down to 56th in the world rankings, which saw them drop to 8th in Africa.
Newly crowned African champions Zambia were the biggest beneficiaries, picking up Nigeria’s fourth place with a 50-place jump to 43 in the world and 4th in Africa.
Losing finalists Cote d’Ivoire kept their top place on the continent as they moved up three places, as did fourth place finishers Ghana.
Algeria and Mali complete Africa’s top five.
