Rivers Ports, Police Assure Increased Mutual Relationship
The port manager, Rivers Ports Complex, Mr. Oladele Alabi has assured that the cordial relationship existing between the ports management and the Port Harcourt Port Police would be maintained for effective security.
Mr. Alabi who made this assurance while playing host to the visiting new commissioner of police in-charge of Nigerian Port Authority Command, Mr. Charles Abutu in his office, who was on the familiarisation tour of area under his command recently expressed satisfaction with the activities of the police at the port.
He said as partners and stakeholders at the port, they should do everything possible to ensure smooth operations at the ports, adding that their presence had also enhance security at the Port Harcourt ports, and enjoined them to redouble their efforts for the interest of the nation.
According to him, they should continue to do their duties effectively to ensure total security at the port, and hailed the new commissioner on his well-deserved office, and expressed confidence that he would use his wealth of experience to bear for better and more effective ports police command.
In his response, the new commissioner in charge of ports authority police command, Mr. Charles Abutu expressed gratitude over the existing relationship between the ports management and the police command and charged them to do their best to ensure crime free port.
Mr. Abutu said despite the shortage of manpower and challenges facing the ports police, they would continue to perform their duties creditably for the country and thanked the ports manager, Rivers Ports Complex for the warm reception.
The commissioner was accompanied by the ports police area commander in-charge of the zone, ACP (Mrs) Tami Peterside, and the DPO, NPA Port Harcourt Ports, Chika Obiyom among others.
