Cleric Urges Mothers To Cultivate Christian Virtues
The Resident Pastor of Grace Garden Branch of Living Christ Mission Rumuomasi, Port Harcourt, Pastor Emeka Joseph, has charged mothers to cultivate the virtues of humility and love in their relationship with house maids and other members of the society.
Pastor Joseph, who said this during the Temple Mothers Day celebration of the church, also urged them to open their minds to God.
The cleric reminded them of the important role mothers play in their various families and noted that it is their responsibility to ensure that their children are brought up with the fear of the Lord.
He also urged them to emulate the examples of Hannah and Abigail in the Bible who would always intercede for their families.
In her welcome address, the President, Temple Mothers Grace Garden Branch of Living Christ Mission, Mrs. Rose Ukwuije, warned mothers against child abuse describing it as a criminal act.
“Child abuse, child battering and torture should never be found in our homes.”
“If you cannot tolerate a maid, send her back to her home, but if she is a relation learn to tolerate her”, she said.
Mrs. Ukwuije also urged mothers to be careful of friends their children and wards keep, stressing that it is their responsibility to ensure that no member of their family depart from the truth.
Later in an interview with The Tide she said that the celebration, which is the first in the branch would help to unite mothers in the church.
Mrs. Ukwuije used the occasion to commend the founder of the church and his wife, Professor and Mrs. Hezekiah for the grace to celebrate the Temple Mothers day at invividual branches of the church.
