Female Race To Debut In Rivers Civil Service Week
For the first time in the history of the Civil Service Week in Rivers State, a female 4 x 50m relay race will be featuring.
Chairman of the Central Planning Committee of the Civil Service Week 2011, Dr George Nwolu, who is also the Permanent Secretary, Energy and Natural Resources, said that the event is to give women more visibility in the celebration.
Dr Nwolu told newsmen in his office that sports is very important for civil servants and that while the men played football, the women also need to relive their youth through race.
According to him, the event that would feature during the half time of the football finals between Ministry of Special Duties and Ministry of Power would indeed be one of the high points of this year’s celebrations.
He took advantage of the interview to invite all public servants and the general public to the Liberation Stadium, Elekahia by 4:00pm on Tuesday for the sports segment of the celebrations.
Last year, the Ministry of Information and Communications won the Head of Service football competition.
