Uduaghan Woos Foreign-Based Deltans On Investment
Governor Uduaghan of Delta State has urged Deltans outside the state to come back home and invest in the state as the environment was steadily becoming conducive for investors.
The Governor, who made the call while commissioning an ultra-modem Mercedes Benz Centre at the Lekki Peninsula in Lagos, said investors were needed to boost the State’s economy.
Besides, the Governor who identified youth unemployment and job creation as the greatest challenge facing the country, tasked Deltans in Diaspora to come home and establish businesses as the state was blessed with abundant human and natural resources.
He assured that his administration was putting strategic infrastructure in place to fast-track the industrialisation of the state, adding that, “all we are doing is that they (Deltans) are interested in coming back home to do business because you cannot be doing it for Lagos State alone” . He therefore solicited that the next out-let of M-B Automobile Services should be in Delta State, hinting that the operational license of the Asaba International Airport will soon be issued.
Governor Uduaghan commended his Lagos State counterpart, Babatunde Fashola, for providing an enabling environment for business to thrive in the nation’s commercial capital, even as he described Deltans resident in Lagos as good tenants.
A1so speaking, a representative of the Mercedes products from Germany, Mr Steffen Baumann, posited that the Lagos centre is a bench mark not only for the city, but for the whole country.
On his part the Chairman of M-B Automobile Services, Mr John Edozien, said the Mercedes Benz centre “is a dream come true” as it took 20 years to materialise.
Edozien, who was a former Deputy Governor of the state averred that the centre was modelled after the Mercedes Benz plant in Stuggart in concept and structure.
With the commissioning, users of the German-built Mercedes Benz brand of vehicles in Nigeria will have cause to smile as the longevity of their cars and trucks would be further guaranteed by the centre.
The centre which is located at Lekki Peninsula is owned by Delta State-born Mr, Benson Uwatse, Managing Director of the operating agency that will serve as outlet for the sales and servicing of Mercedes brands.
