Traditional Ruler Mulls More Medals For Rivers In Golf
A traditional ruler in Rebisi Kingdom and prominent Golf player in Rivers State, Chie Friday Amadi says the state would clinch more gold medals in golf, if they raise their play at the on-going Garden City Games.
Chief Amadi, who is the Ochaliri 1 of Rebisi in an exclusive chat on Friday said golf has always given the state edge in most Sports Festival.
He observed that the gold medal already clinched by the state is a far cry from expectation since there are a lot of professionals golfers in the state and who have made the state proud in previous competition.
Chief Amadi, who is also a golf coach opined that from the current performance displayed by the state contigents medal drought may hit the team, if the coaches fail to lead the players properly.
“I spent three to four hours at the golf course and from what I observed, the state need to raise their game even though they have already gotten a gold and one bronze.
“Normally before this time we used to have about three to four gold medal before category two ends,” Chief Amadi remarked.
However, he was of the view that the competition is still fresh, and urged the state contingent to put in more efforts so as to win more trophies.

RSG INAUGURATES ARMED FORCES REMEMBRANCE DAY COMMITTEE
The Rivers State Government has inaugurated a Central Planning Committee to organize the celebration of the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day (AFRD) in the State.
The committee was formally inaugurated by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Benibo Anabraba in Port Harcourt, last Thursday.
Dr Anabraba who also serves as Chairman of the Committee
highlighted the State Government’s deep appreciation for the sacrifices of Nigeria’s fallen heroes who laid down their lives for the nation’s peace and unity.
“These heroes have given their lives for the security and peace of our nation and deserve to be celebrated. The Armed Forces Remembrance Day is an opportunity to show our gratitude for their sacrifice,” he said.
Dr. Anabraba further extended recognition to all Security Agencies in the State, emphasizing the importance of the event in appreciating their contributions to national security and sovereignty.
The annual Armed Forces Remembrance Day, observed on January 15 across the country is dedicated to remember Nigeria’s departed soldiers and honouring the nation’s veterans.
