Adokie Amiesimaka Sports Complex Gets Commendation
Volleyball players and officials at the on-going 17th National Sports Festival have commended the Rivers State Government for building the Adokiye Amiesimaka Sports Complex.
Of particular mention is the volleyball court at the sports complex which was put into use for the first time on Wednesday. They described the facility as one of the best in the country.
Elizabeth Iorkwa,a young volley ball player who is making her debut appearance at the games explained that the facility is the best she has seen.
“I must confess I ‘ve not seen any court as standard as this. In fact any player who cannot play here will not be able to play anywhere,” she said.
Also, a former national team coach and member of the federation, Anthony Urhobo applauded Governor Chibuike Amaechi for taking the Adokiye Amiesimaka Sports Complex out of the city centre.
He said it takes only a visionary and courageous leader to embark on such project far from the main city which will in the long run hasten development in the area.
“I don’t how many State executives in the country that can do this,Governor Amaechi has really proved beyond doubt that he is a sports loving Governor who means well for his people.
“Look at this facility what else can an athlete ask for. Even though some of them were not ready before the commencement of the games, I must commend him for this noble initiative and I urge other State Governor’s to emulate him,” he said.
Coach Urhobo says he expects the athletes to make good use of the facilities during the games.
