Team Rivers Wins Four Gold Medals In Kung-Fu
Team Rivers in the on-going 17th National Sports Festival has won four gold medals in Kung-Fu.
The team also won one silver and two bronze medals in Kung-Fu.
Team Rivers has about 1,000 athletes and officials. Afolabi Ademola won two gold medals in the men’s category Adu Bankole and Eweje Adeleye captured gold medals also while Ijeoma Ikeije won a gold medal in the body movement event in the female category.
Other winners for Team Rivers include Joy Mark who won silver medal,while Ebitomo Tamara and Amaka Onwuka won bronze medals in the female category of Kung-Fu.
The chairman of team Rivers, Mr Boma Iyaye said the state was proud of the athletes. “We are working hard to get more medals. This is just the beginning and we hope to get more medals as the festival progresses” he said.
The outcome of the Kung-Fu events which took place at the University of Port Harcourt has been submitted to the technical committee of the festival for approval.
