Ogba Monarch Urges Dialogue With Boko Haram
The Eze Ogba of Ogbaland, His Emminence, Chukumela Nnam Obi II, has urged the Federal Government to dialogue with members of the Boko Haram sect in finding lasting solution to the crisis and killings allegedly perpetrated by members of the sect in Northern parts of the country.
“The best thing is to set up an organ to dialogue and find out what the Boko Haram really want because if you give a child what he is crying for, he will stop crying”, the Ogba Monarch said in an interview with The Tide at the Port Harcourt International Airport, Omagwa.
The royal father who was returning from Abuja where he attended the swearing-in ceremony of Justice Mary Odili and justice Sylvester Ngwuta as Supreme Court Judges condemned in equivocal terms, the recent bomb blast at the Police Headquarters, Abuja.
He said that “those who glory at the bombings taking place in Nigeria are in enemity with God because they don’t need to do such evil to their fellow human beings.”
Perpetrators of the act, he advised, should retain “as such attitude is alien to us in this part of the world. To plant bomb is like somebody throwing stone in the market if your mother is not there, your relations can be there.”
He, however, expressed optimism that President Goodluck Jonathan was capable of handling the situation just as he did with the problem of militancy in Niger Delta. He insisted that if Jonathan was able to pacify the Niger Delta militants, Boko Haram can also be pacified”, but advised that it should be done with caution.
The former chairman of the Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers who expressed joy at the elevation of Mrs. Mary Odili to a Supreme Court Judge said “for such a thing to happen to us is very good and gives us high spirit and we are projected at envisioning her to be fair to people.
Said he: “A witty child or daughter needs no much advice. She should continue with the way she is doing. No matter what your position is, you have to be humble, sincere and courageous in whatever you are doing.”
