12 Nabbed For Killing Policemen
The search for pirates who allegedly killed two marine policemen a fortnight ago has paid dividends with the arrest of 12 suspects at different locations within the state.
The two cops who were on regular patrol of water routes in Bayelsa State were ambushed and killed along Yenagoa Creeks by suspected pirates according to official information.
The reports had it that the police boat in which the victims and their colleague used were ambushed, but the two policemen were unlucky while their colleagues escaped the attack.
Soon after the incident, the Police high command in the state despatched its anti-pirates squad to search and apprehend the hooldlums.
The search yeilded profit with the arrest of the suspects.
Confirming the arrest in a telephone interview, the Command’s spokesman, Emokpae Egwuabon, said the suspects had made useful statements, declaring that the search for more suspects is still going on. He assured that at the end of its investigations, those found to cupable to the offence will be prosecuted while the innocent ones will be released.
