New Radio Rivers FM underway
The Rivers State Government is to build a new model Digital Radio Station for the state broadcasting corporation in Elelenwo as part of measures to reposition the station for optimum productivity.
Governor Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi who stated this yesterday on a live Radio phone – in programme tagged “Tuesday Morning Live” in Port Harcourt, said the experience of some staff of the present station, the Radio Rivers FM, will inform their placement in the new station.
The Governor, who described the restructuring of the existing station as necessary, assured workers that they will not lose their jobs as a result of the exercise, emphasising however that some workers of the station will be deployed to other parastatals where they would function effectively.
He said that the essence of the restructuring was to ensure viability and professionalism in the’ operation of the Radio station, adding that the new Radio Rivers will be commercially driven, while promising that the edict establishing the station will be reviewed to take care of the new focus of the station.
Answering questions on the talk show, the Rivers State Governor pointed out that peace has returned to Port Harcourt and the entire Rivers State, as all forms of rancour that characterised the state in the past would not be allowed to re-surface again.
He appealed for massive participation in Tuesday’s governorship election, noting that if re-elected, his second tenure would accord priority to social security services which, according to him, would create job, revive water supply and increase electricity supply as part of efforts to tackle security challenges.
