Delta Security Agencies Get Patrol Vans, Bullet Proof Vests
Delta State government has presented 50 Mazda pickup patrol vans, 1,000 bullet proof vests and 900 helmet to security agencies in the state for effective service and improved security in the state during and after polls.
The governor, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan who made the presentation in Asaba, explained that security agencies in the state were faced with logistic problems as such, the items were presented to help protect security men who are exposed to danger on the field as well as curb crime in the state.
He commended security agencies in the state for ensuring peace during election periods and advised them to judiciously use these items presented to them in the elections to curb violence and maintain peace.
“There is no doubt that security agencies in the state have logistics problem, with these items it will help curb violence in the state especially during this elections period.
“This administration has worked hard to maintain a peaceful security condition and would not condone anything that will affect it”.
While receiving the items on behalf of the security agencies, the state commissioner of police, Baba Adisa Bolante expressed appreciation to the state government for the items and stressed that security was an important part of development.
He noted that only few state governments like Delta compliment the efforts of security operatives in order to reduce crime to the barest minimum and stated: “I assure you that the items will be put into maximum use especially during this election”.
“When I was called yesterday to come and receive vehicles today, I never expected it will be this much. I thank the government for this act of encouragement; we will do our best to curb crime in the state”.
The items presented are 25 patrol pick up vans to Police Headquarters Asaba, 2 patrol van to AIG zone 5 office Benin, 3 patrol vans to the Army.
Others include 2 patrol vans to the Navy, 2 to state security service (SSS), 10 vans for Joint Task Force (JTF) 1,000 bullet proof vest, 500 helmets for police and 400 helmets for the Army.
