CPC Promises To Focus On N’Delta Dev
Presidential Candidate of the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) General Mohammadu Buhari, has promised to give priority attention to Niger Delta development if voted into office.
Speaking at the CPC South-South Presidential rally in Port Harcourt over the weekend, Buhari said as the producer of the nation’s oil resources, the area requires special attention and development plan to mitigate sufferings of the people.
He lashed the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for failing to address the plight of the region hence the poor development that has witnessed in the region in the past 12 years.
The former Military Head of State promised that immediately the CPC wins the presidency, provision of social amenities and basic infrastructure would be implemented in the nation’s largest oil producing region.
He dccried the near total collapse of infrastructures and social services in the country, saying, “we need social services especially education. We will put education infrastructure right once we get your mandate”.
The CPC Presidential candidate also harped on the importance of security, assuring that the party would do all it could to raise the protection of lives and property all over the country. Buhari who urged the electorate to go out massively and vote according to their conscience also stressed the need for voters to make sure they protect their votes on the election day.
Earlier on, Vice Presidential candidate of the CPC, Pastor Tunde Bakare had said that the PDP has failed in finding lasting solution to the Niger Delta problem. Already he stated that the party has articulated a blueprint to transform the region and that the only way to ensure that development comes to the area was to vote for the CPC.
If the CPC takes over the nation’s presidential seat, Bakare assured that the party would ensure that corruption was drastically reduced.
Pastor Bakar said, “with the CPC it is not going to be business as usual, stressing that time has come for change in the country’s polity.

RSG INAUGURATES ARMED FORCES REMEMBRANCE DAY COMMITTEE
The Rivers State Government has inaugurated a Central Planning Committee to organize the celebration of the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day (AFRD) in the State.
The committee was formally inaugurated by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Benibo Anabraba in Port Harcourt, last Thursday.
Dr Anabraba who also serves as Chairman of the Committee
highlighted the State Government’s deep appreciation for the sacrifices of Nigeria’s fallen heroes who laid down their lives for the nation’s peace and unity.
“These heroes have given their lives for the security and peace of our nation and deserve to be celebrated. The Armed Forces Remembrance Day is an opportunity to show our gratitude for their sacrifice,” he said.
Dr. Anabraba further extended recognition to all Security Agencies in the State, emphasizing the importance of the event in appreciating their contributions to national security and sovereignty.
The annual Armed Forces Remembrance Day, observed on January 15 across the country is dedicated to remember Nigeria’s departed soldiers and honouring the nation’s veterans.
