Enyeama, Falconets Claim Awards
Nigeria goalkeeper, Vincent Enyeama has been voted the Sports Person of the Year at The Future Awards in Lagos.
Nigeria’s under 20 women’s team, the Falconets claimed the Team of the Year Award.
The increasingly influential awards ceremony, which is in its sixth iteration, recognises outstanding young Nigerian people in all fields of endeavour.
Enyeama was Nigeria’s stand out performer in an abysmal year for the Super Eagles, winning consecutive Man of the Match awards at the World Cup despite finishing on the losing side on two occasions.
He was also a major force behind the team’s run to a third place finish at the African Nations Cup.
The Falconets became the first women’s team from African to reach the Final of a FIFA World Cup, where they lost to eventual champions Germany.
