LG Vice Chairman Tasks Candidate On Pollution Laws
The Vice Chairman of Oyigbo Local Government Council, Hon. Innocent Ajaelu, has urged the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the Rivers State House of Assembly in the April general elections, Hon. Okechukwu Akara to think of legislations that would check pollutions in Oyigbo if elected into the house.
Ajaelu, in an interview with newsmen shortly after participating in the voters registration exercise at Ward II Unit I Oyigbo also said that the issue of unemployment in the area should be addressed.
The local government vice chairman expressed the need for the candidate to also propose legislations that would lead to the provision of facilities for oyigbo urban rising from its rapid expansion.
He described Hon. Akara who was the former council secretary as a transparent man, noting that with his wealth of experience, the people of Oyigbo would have cause to rejoice of quality representation in the next democratic dispensation.
Ajaelu who expressed the readiness of the Oyigbo people to vote en mass for the Assembly candidate, also said that similar gesture would be extended to Governor Chibuike Amaechi, Hon, Magnus Abe and Barry Mpigi during the elections.
On the on-going voters registration exercise in the area, Ajaelu listed some of hitches witnessed during the early stages of the exercise as overcrowding and poor functioning of the DDC machines, but said the exercise is progressing in the area.
