Scrabble Federation Woos Sponsors For Programmes
Toke Aka, President of the Nigeria Scrabble Federation (NSF), has commended sponsors of the Federation’s programmes in 2010 and urged them to maintain the trend in 2011.
He gave the commendation in an interview with newsmen in Lagos last weekend..
Aka expressed optimism that the Federation would have more sponsors this year with the more favourable business climate in the country.
“We only pray that our sponsors continue to do well in their businesses this year to enable them to continue to support our activities,’’ he said.
He said that the zonal championship scheduled for Abuja in the first quarter of the year would feature winners from the six zones.
The Federation president said that the date of the competition would be announced immediately the NSF secured a sponsor for the event.
“We have contacted some scrabble enthusiasts to sponsor the event and, immediately we get one, we will announce the date,’’ Aka said.
The president hailed Governor Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom for donating a 15-seater Toyota bus to the secretariat.
“Apart from sponsoring the fourth annual Godswill Akpabio International Scrabble Classics last October in Uyo, the governor donated the bus to solve our transportation problem,’’ he said.
