Naval Boss Tasks Officers On Security
Officers of the Nigerian Navy have been warned not to allow themselves to be used for mischief but should occupy themselves with issues bordering on internal security of the nation.
The Chief of Naval staff, Vice Adnural Ishaya Ibrahim gave the warning at the passing out parade ceremony of batch 18 trainees of Nigerian Navy Basic Training School, Onne.
The Chief of Naval staff who was represented by the flag officer commanding Western Naval Command, Rear Admiral Ola Saheed Ibrahim emphasised that internal security was part of the statutory role of the Nigerian Navy and so must be taken seriously. He enjoined the graduantls to be ready at anytime to discharge their responsibility in the course of their career.
He expressed satisfaction with the high standard exhibited by the graduands and attributed it to the quality of training they were given at the Navy School.
The Naval boss also charged the graduands to always exhibit unflinching loyalty to the service and to the President, commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the federal Republic of Nigeria, stressing that discipline and prompt obedience of superior orders remained the watch words in the service.
Commodore Harry Egbe, the Commanding Officer said out of the 1143 who resumed the nine-month training course at Nigeria Navy Basic Training School, 1124 were successful.
Six trainees where honoured for exemplary display in training. Adeleke Oluwaseun received Best Overall trainee award, Nabol Silas got best trainee marks man award while Nwokolo K. Ubakamma lifted the award for best in professional training.
Others were Obanla J. Kolawole who got the award for best trainee in Academics, Omon-Dan Emmanuel got award for best trainee in aptitude tests while Salami A. Success received the award for best trainee in sporting activities.
