…Commences Peace Sensitisation Campaign In Ogoni
A non-governmental organisation, Global Peace Initiative (GPI), has commenced a community-based peace sensitisation exercise for some Ogoni communities in Gokana Local government Area of the state.
The campaign, according to GPI president, prophet Jones Eme, to implore warring communities in the area to embrace peace in order to attract development.
Prophet Erue, who expressed worry over the level of animosity between Deyor and Deken on one hand, and Barako and Nwebiara communities on the other hand, noted that it was high time they embraced peace and shunned all kinds of differences capable of sowing life long enemity.
Speaking at the palace of the chairman of Gokana Traditional rulers, chief Nbari baabel at Bera, Prophet Erue described the Ogoin people as peace-loving people who have championed the development of the Niger Delta.
Prophet Erue said apart from meeting with the traditional rulers of the area, the body would also engage in organising concert and other youth sensitisation activities aimed at curbing violence amongst the youths of the area.
The GPI helmsman enjoined the people to shun gossips, rumours and reprisal activities. He noted that the Ogoni people are one and should remain one at all times.
Earlier, Chief Baabel lauded the body for their activities in the area. He stated that the campaign has yielded so much results, since a lot of the communities are now in peace.
