FG Sacks NNPC MD …Names Shehu Ladan
The Acting President, Dr Goodluck Jonathan, yesterday, appointed Alhaji Shehu Ladan as the new Group Managing Director (GMD) of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).
Ladan replaces Alhaji Mohammed Barkindo whose removal was announced only yesterday.
A statement by Mr Ima Niboro, the Senior Special Assistant (Media and Publicity) to the Acting President, yesterday said the appointment took immediate effect.
It said Jonathan charged Ladan to execute the administration’s vision of transforming the NNPC into a global brand and player.
The statement said the acting president thanked the former MD,Barkindo for his stewardship and wished him well in his future endeavours.
The Tide’s reporter recalls that Ladan retired from the NNPC on April 6, 2009 as Group Executive Director, Commercial and Investment.
He was also a former Deputy Managing Director of Nigeria LNG, Executive Director, NETCO and NPDC, all subsidiaries of NNPC.
