No Plans To Sack Edo LG Councils – Oshiomhole
Edo State Governor Comrade Adams Oshiomhole has said that there are no plans by the State government to dissolve the eighteen local government councils in the state.
Speaking yesterday at the enlarged Executive meeting of Edo State Action Congress in Benin City , Comrade Oshiomhole disclosed that it was late to take such a decision.
“If we wanted to dissolve the local government councils we would have done so immediately I assumed office” he noted.
Comrade Oshiohole told the Executive Council meeting of the AC that the Party is getting bigger and better thereby becoming the only surviving party in Edo State .
He advised them to apply the required skills to manage a big party.
“We shall be dealing with issues of nominations as elections take place in the first quarter of next year. We must do it differently since we have embraced democracy,” he noted.
The governor urged those who have interest to contest any of the elective positions to desist from giving money to party leaders, because party leaders will not be able to impose candidate on the party.
In his word, “let us try to abhor those things we have rejected by playing by the rules particularly at the local level.”
According to him, the old tradition where party leaders collect money from various candidates should be condemned.
He disclosed that from April this year, there will be town hall meetings in each of the Senatorial districts to educate the people on his administration.
