RSNC Assures Indigenous Contractors Of Support
The Management of the Rivers State Newspaper Corporation, Publishers of The Tide Group of Newspapers, has assured indigenous contractors in the state of support in their quest to be relevant in the activities of the state government.
This assurance was given by th e General Manager (GM) of the Corporation, Mr Celestine Ogolo, Thursday, when the executive body of the Rivers State Indigenous Contractors paid him a courtesy visit in his office .
Speaking in response to the Chairman of the Indigenous Contractors, Chief Emmanuel Ordu, the General Manager emphasised the importance of the body partnering with The Tide, noting that the corporation is strategically placed to serve both the government and Rivers people.
“We are here not just to serve the government of the day, but also the people of Rivers State.
“So, we will not fail in our responsibilities to serve the people.
The GM, who stated this in response to request by the executive of indigenous contractors for The Tide to support the body in its determination to partner with the state government to build a Rivers State of everybody’s dream, promised of adequate publicity of their activities geared towards the development of the state.
Mr Ogolo, however, advised the indigenous contractors to key into the due process and transparency programme set up by the government, if it wants to be carried along in the scheme of things in the Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi-led government “which insists on due process”.
This, the GM explained include the body ensuring that all genuine Indigenous Contractors are duly registered with the state government.
Earlier, the chairman of the Rivers State Indigenous Contractors Association (RICA) had eulogised The Tide over its unique position as the voice of the South-South, noting the important role the corporation plays in the development of the state.
“The Tide is wearing a nwe look since your assumption of office. It carries first class information as a government parastatal. We feel very proud of this development.
“That is why we shortlisted The Tide as the number One Newspaper to be patronised”, the chairman said.
Chief Ordu noted that activities of some contractors under previous government in the state, who took mobilisation fees for contracts and did not execute the contract, saying that the present dispensation of contractors have resolved not to allow such occurrence.
While appealing to the state government to address the issue of their bid for contracts through the Ministry of Works, the chairman said “we are assuring the government that if any contract is given to us, we must ensure that we deliver”.

Rivers High Court Restrain Trustees, Knights of St. John International, Others From Conducting Election
The High Court sitting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, has restrained the registered trustees of Knights of St John International, Supreme Subordinate Commandery, Nigeria, and four others from conducting elections into Our Lady of Holy Rosary Local Commandery No 920 CIWA, Port Harcourt, District 48 Commandery elections, and Supreme Subordinate elections of the Knights of St John International, Nigeria, pending the determination of the substantive matters before them.
Justice G.C. Aguma and Justice V.C. Ugoji, in their separate interim orders of injunction issued in Suit No: PHC/4410/CS/2025 and Suit No: PHC/4359/CS/2025, respectively, restrained the defendants, whether by themselves, their privies, agents, servants, or any person or group of persons working under them, from conducting elections into Our Lady of Holy Rosary Local Commandery No 920, CIWA Port Harcourt, District 48 Commandery, Port Harcourt Commandery, and Supreme Subordinate of Knights of St John International, Nigeria.
The claimants, Sir Njoku Chukwuemeka Andrew and Sir Chukwuemeka Martin Mba, in separate suits, through their legal representatives, dragged the defendants to court, seeking an order to restrain them from appointing or installing any interim caretaker executive or leadership to run or pilot the affairs of St John International, Our Lady of Holy Rosary Local Commandery No 920, CIWA, Port Harcourt.
The defendants in the matter are: Registered Trustees of Knights of St John International, Supreme Subordinate Commandery, Nigeria; Brig. Gen. Emmanuel Ufuoma Okene, the Grand President, Port Harcourt Grand Commandery, Knights of St John International; Noble Brother Viktor Benebo, the Chairman Investigation Committee set up by the 2nd Defendant to investigate the claimants; Sir Architect Prempeh Ebiware, the District 48 Commander, Knights of St John International, Port Harcourt; and Sir Harry Oruma, member of Knights of St John International, Our Lady of Holy Commandery No 920, CIWA, Port Harcourt.
The two judges, after listening to the counsels in the matter, granted the claimants’ request and adjourned the matter to 10/12/2025 and 16/12/2025, respectively, for hearing of the motion on notice.
