NYSC Identifies With Imoke’s Child Centre
The 2009/2010 Batch “A” corps members have donated a 10.1bg heavy duty laundering machine and a six-cycle heavy duty super capacity drying machine to the Destiny Child Centre – a home initiated by Mrs Obioma Liyel Imoke for vulnerable and homeless children.
NYSC state co-ordinator, Mrs Edith Nweke, represented by the Assistant Director, Mr Augustine Pius Udoh, commended Mrs Imoke for her initiative, describing the gesture as noble.
Nweke advised the children at the Destiny Child Centre (DCC) to always behave well as they are being groomed to become good citizens of the society.
Nweke said the gift items donated to the children at DCC by Millennium Awareness Campaign Group (MAC) of NYSC Community Development Service was in partnership with ADDAX Shore Line Logistics Nigeria Limited, Calabar and advised that the items donated should be used judiciously.
Also, the schedule officer-in-charge of Millennium Development Goals Awareness Creation, Mrs Essien Enang, disclosed that the text books and exercise books also donated by the Batch A Youth Corps members was to assist the DCC children in their learning.
In a related development, the wife of Abi Local Government Area chairman, Mrs Glory Chuks Agube, has donated items worth thousands of naira to “the Refuge” and Destiny Child Centre in Calabar.
Mrs Agube said she was making the donation in the spirit of valentine as February is noted as the Month of love and equally to share love with the children at the two homes.
