Commissioner Warns Petroleum Products Dealers Against Diversion
The Commissioner for Energy and Natural Resources, Dr Dawari George, has warned dealers of petroleum products to stop further diversions of products meant for the state, or face severe consequences. Dr George gave the warning recently during an unscheduled visit to petrol stations in the town axis of Port Harcourt metropolis. He expressed displeasure at the attitude of dealers who divert products meant for Rivers Stte neighbouring states, and declared that it was unacceptable. The commissioner cited the kerosene scarcity as peculiar to Rivers State while the neighbouring states have the product in abundance, as a result of diversions. Dr George promised to do everything possible to draw the attention of the PPMC Depot Management to correct the discrepancies. Out of six petrol stations visited, including the NNPC Mega Station, only one had kerosene but could not sell due to faulty pumps. To this end, the commissioner ordered the immediate repair of the pumps to resume sales as quickly as possible.
