Manager Tasks Nigerians On Clean Environment
The Site Manager, Stemco Limited, Airport yard, Mr Elie Bitar, has said that Nigeria will achieve a cleaner environment if only its citizens can start sanitation from their various door steps.
The Manager who spoke with the press at the company’s premises along Port Harcourt Airport road last week, said door step approach to sanitation issues will aid the country to record high result in her quest to have a cleaner environment.
Bitar reasoned that environmental issues are personal habits that must commence in every family before taking same to the larger society.
He said the issue can also be handled by dealing with the mind set of the people by periodically engaging them in talk shows on the need to have a clean environment.
He told this publication that most European countries are clean due to the peoples personal habit to maintain their environments.
The Stemco Site Manager, regretted that people do not take care of the environment despite its friendly and vegetative nature.
He explained how some beautiful green grasses started growing within and out side the premises few weeks after a radical sanitation approach was introduced to the place.
He recalled that rainfall in the country is very adequate as it rains both in the dry and rainy seasons, adding that a proper use of the environment will open a new page in the country’s history.
We gathered that people are now happy with the clean nature of the Stemco Airport Yard due to its new look.
One Mr Prince Emenike a Wheel Loader operator, explained they also contributed to the cleaning of the Yard outside his main duty, adding that the Bitar idea of maintaining a healthy environment is a better panacea to environmental issues.
The workers also told our reporter how the Chairman of Ikwerre Local Government Council Hon Welendu Amadi lauded their new manager over the clean environment of the company against its former look.
Bitar has boasted that the present happenings at the premises are merely shadows of things to come, adding that it is a wake up call to duty.
Furthermore, landlord to the company, Chief Augustus Nwodi, lauded the Stemco General Manager Engr. Gabriel Bitar for his relentless efforts to improve the environment.
