IYC Plans 3,000 Jobs For Eastern Delta
The Ijaw Youth Council
(IYC) Eastern Zone is targeting 3,000 job opportunities for youths in the zone within the next three years.
Chairman of the council, Eastern zone, Comrade Peter Igbifaa who disclosed this in an interview with newsmen in Port Harcourt also said that the council will work with multinationals operating in the area for the attainment of the desired goal.
Comrade Igbifaa also said that a skill acquisition centre will be established to train youths on different skills, stressing that the situation would go a long way to curb incident of criminalities among the youths.
The IYC chairman also said that, a blue print for the economic development and transformation of the zone is being worked out, stressing that the council is already discussing with companies on the issue.
He described the Eastern zone as the hub of the oil and gas industry in the Niger Delta, noting that youths must be properly equipped to match into the industry.
Meanwhile, in another development the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) eastern zone says there is no going back on the emergence of an Ijaw governor in Rivers State in 2015.
The zonal chairman of the council, Comrade Peter Igbifaa said that all guber aspirants from the riverine areas of the state will be engaged with the view to producing a consensus candidate for the governorship race.
Comrade Igbifaa also commended the leadership of the Ijaw National Congress (INC), Eastern zone for its insistences on a governor of Ijaw extraction in 2015 urged all Ijaw sons and daughters in the zone to rally round the congress for the attainment of the desired goal.
