AC Chieftain Tasks Jonathan On Post Amnesty Programme
The Action Congress Leader in Rivers State, Prince Tonye Princewill has said “hard questions” await Acting President Goodluck Jonathan if he fails to use his vintage position to resolve Niger Delta issues before leaving office.
Princewill, who stated this in a statement signed by the party’s publicity secretary, Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Ekeh . Eze said if Jonathan fails to adopt proactive steps to implement the post amnesty programme of the Federal Government, he will not find it pleasant after leaving office.
According to him, “Jonathan is from Niger Delta region, if he finishes his short tenure and come back to the region without answers to most of the problems in the area; then he, himself, will have a very big question to answer”.
The Action Congress leader said lack of political will has affected the post amnesty programme in the Niger Delta region, noting that there were inconsistencies wit h the amnesty process.
He called for a good follow-up of the entire process and condemned the recent bomb blast in Warri, Delta State, blaming the recurring wave of violence in some parts of the country on the absence of political will to address the numerous problems confronting the nation by the country’s political leaders.
