HOS Orders Removal Of Abandoned Vehicles In Rivers Secretariat
Owners of abandoned
and unserviceable vehicles parked within the premises of the Rivers State Secretariat Complex have been directed to remove them within seven days or face the wrath of government.
Head of Service, Barr Samuel LongJohn gave the directive Friday while undertaking a routine inspection tour of the premises and offices in the Rivers State Secretariat Complex.
Barr LongJohn noted that such vehicles not only take up available parking spaces but pose security threat to workers and visitors to the complex, stressing that at the expiration of the deadline, drastic measures would be taken against owners of such vehicles that may lead to confiscation and arrest for security breach.
He also directed Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to remove their unserviceable vehicles parked in the premises for repairs or be labelled for auctioning.
In the course of the inspection tour, the Head of Service also directed the de-silting of blocked drainages, weeding of grasses and evacuation of disused furniture and equipment littered on the ground floors of some blocks in the premises.
He, however, expressed satisfaction with the state of cleanliness of the entire premises, and urged those in charge to keep up the tempo.
