RSG To Demarcate Eleme, Okrika, Ogu-Bolo Boundaries
Rivers State Deputy Governor, Engr. Tele Ikuru, says Eleme, Okrika and Ogu-Bolo boundaries would be demarcated on April, 2010.
Engr. Ikuru stated this shortly after a meeting with the stakeholders from the three local government areas in Government House on Thursday.
He explained that the people discussed with government on the need to demarcate the boundaries, saying the exercise when completed, would stem the disputes and fracas experienced in that axis over the years.
Briefing newsmen shortly after the meeting, Chairman of Eleme Local Government Council, Mr Oji Ngofa said the meeting was informed by the incessant crisis witnessed in the area triggered by provocative activities of some individuals, describing “the meeting as timely”.
Also speaking, Ag. Chairman of Okrika Local Government Council, Mr. Tamunokuro Oba, expressed gratitude to the state government for taking the initiative to douse tension in the area, saying that his people would continue to support the Governor Amaechi-led administration in its bid to take development to the nooks and crannies of the state.
On his part, Chairman of Ogu-Bolo Local Government Council, Mr. Lawrence Abiebiari, said the meeting and the demarcation exercise are “the right steps in the right direction”, pledging to advise his subjects, as peace loving and law-abiding people, to adhere to the policies and programmes of the government.
