Ex-Supervisor Charges Old Students On Alma Mater
A former Supervisor of
Agriculture in Andoni Local Government Area, Mr Allison Phanuel, has charged old students of Government Secondary School, Asarama to use their positions to advance the course of educational and infrastructural development of their alma mater.
Phanuel who gave the charge at a maiden meeting of the Old Students Association in Port Harcourt, said that although the school was government-owned, the collective effort of the old students would complement in raising the educational standard of the institution and the students.
According to him, no effort made to give the school a facelift would be in vain, stressing the need for the old students to bequeath worthy legacies for future generations of Andoni people.
“We must strive to bequeath worthy legacies for coming generations of Andonis, particularly in ensuring that they receive qualitative education”, he stressed and expressed the gratitude of the old students to the State Governor, Rt Hon Chibuike Amaechi for appointing one of them, Elder Sampson G. Egop as Caretaker Committee Chairman of Andoni LGA.
Also speaking, one of the conveners of the meeting, Mr George Amini decried the present state of the school, stating that the time has come for the old students to think of ways to bring back the institution’s lost glory, pointing out that government alone cannot do everything for the school.
He observed that the school had been neglected for the past two decades and called for all hands to be on deck to give the school a new lease and befitting look.
At the end of the meeting, the members agreed on the need to carry out some renovation work at the school and also provide infrastructure and learning facilities such as library, amongst others.

Dr. Nwagor made the appeal when members of the Etche Ethnic Practicing Journalists (EEPJ) paid him a courtesy visit in Office in Port Harcourt. The Commissioner emphasized the strategic role of the media in shaping public perception, promoting government initiatives, and supporting policies capable of improving the quality of education and human capital development in the state.
