Emohua To Commission International Market
As part of efforts to attract investors as well as open up the area, the Emohua Local Government Council has concluded plans to commission the first phase of its International market.
The Chairman of the council, Emeka Woke, while conducting journalist round some of the projects, particularly the market, disclosed that the idea for building the market was to attract people who will sponsor development to the council and its environ.
According to him, “it has been a very long time that the university of Port Harcourt has been built in Choba.
“When you go to Choba now, a one bedroom apartment is about N150,000 or within that range, and the same is spreading to Aluu in Ikewrre local government, but you find out that as you Cross Choba bridge to Emohua, you can not find any of the University of Port Harcourt Student Living in this place.
“That is what informed the council to build the market, and we were thinking of what we can do that can generate more economic activities in the area.
We thought of this ultra modern market, for people to cue-in” .
The first phase of the International Market has 200 lock up shops, 120 open shops are already completed on ready for commissioning.
Woke continued that an ultra modern bus terminal is also nearing completion with the state of the art facilities which include inter lock bricks, adding that the council has its target, and is working towards completing the project within the targeted period.
The market, he explained, has facility for warehouse, clinic, and a fire station.
