All things being equal, final report of the National Conference would be made ready for debate by delegates on August 13, 2014.
Chairman, Justice Idris Kutigi (rtd), had on July 14, 2014, adjourned plenary until August 4 and subsequently to August 11 for adoption of the final report.
Assistant Secretary (Media and Communications) to the Conference, Mr James Akpandem, had explained that the further adjournment was to allow for production of “enough copies of the voluminous reports for all the delegates; so that when they return, they will have no cause to wait longer than necessary”.
However, in a press chat yesterday, Akpandem explained that the report of the conference was already being reproduced to meet the required number of the delegates.
He expressed hope that the required copies would be ready before the resumption of plenary on August. 11.
“The report is ready and is being reproduced; it is hoped that before the scheduled date, the required number in the produced volumes will be available”, he continued.
Akpandem, however, said that copies of the report would not be given out to delegates ahead of the resumption date, stressing that, each delegate will only be given copies on resumption.
The media officer explained that delegates, after collecting the reports, would be expected to study them in two days ahead of the final discussion.
