Senator’s 90 -Yr Old Mother Still In Captivity …Police Nab Five Suspects
Six days after the abduc
tion of 90 year old mother of Senator Emmanuel Paulka, the kidnappers are yet to release the old woman, even though Police said five prime suspects had been arrested.
The octogenarian. Madam Florentina Paulka who was whisked away by unknown gun men from her Opllo resident, within Yenagoa metropolis in the early hours of Wednesday is yet to be located according to family sources.
This is second time, the woman was kidnapped by gun men, the first happened in 2010.
A statement issued by the state government and signed by the Security Adviser to the Governor, Rtd Lt. Col. Benard Kenebai read thus: “Following the unfortunate kidnap of Madam Florentina Paulker, mother of Senator Emmanuel Paulker on which a Police Press Release was made on Wednesday 30th July 2014, the Government of Bayelsa State wishes to congratulate the security agencies for their swift response and subsequent pursuit leading to the apprehension of 4 suspects involved”.
The Bayelsa State Government has therefore, assured the Security Agencies of the needed support in their efforts towards a speedy and successful conclusion of the action to this incident. One of the prime suspects arrested within minutes of the distress call and 3 others arrested less than 6 hours later, have all made very useful statements to the Police and efforts are on to ensure the prompt and successful release of the victim,” the statement added.
According to the statement, the Government wishes to re-assure Bayelsans of the continued efficacy of the investments in security assets as well as the commitment of the security agencies to interdict crime, and where that is not possible, promptly investigate, apprehend and prosecute persons that are involved. The Bayelsa State Hovernment is also appealing to all peace-loving Bayelsans to remain confident in the state’s security systems and continue to co-operate as well as collaborate with security agencies in the fight against crime and criminality.”
