Ex-TUC Boss Okays Recall Of Sacked Teachers
The immediate past
President, Trade Union Congress (TUC), Mr. Peter Esele, has lauded the recent reinstatement of over 900 primary school teachers earlier sacked by the Edo State Governor Adams Oshiomhole.
Esele, fielding questions from newsmen in Benin, also commended Governor Oshiomhole for putting aside the controversial competency test for teachers in both primary and secondary schools in the state.
He described it as a positive development in the education programme of the state adding that the governor by his action has demonstrated that he is a listening governor and one who has the interest of the people at heart.
The former TUC President noted that the training and re-training programmes being put in place for the teachers by the state government would no doubt enhance the teaching profession in the state.
Comrade Esele also appreciated government’s approval of the payment of relativity to all public school teachers in the state, urging the reinstated teachers to reciprocate the government’s gesture by being more committed to their jobs.
