Vision 2020 Committee To Submit Reports In 14 Days
The Delta Vision 2020 Steering Committee last Friday mandated its sub-committees to submit their reports within two weeks.
The directive was issued at a meeting of the committee in Asaba.
Mr. Bernard Okumagba, the Chairman of the committee and the state Commissioner for Economic Planning, said the ultimatum became necessary due to delays by some sub-committees.
Okumagba said that though Delta had been commended at the national level for its effort at evolving a long-term development plan, the plan was not coming up as quickly as expected.
He charged the sub-committee members to show commitment by increasing their pace of work so as to ensure that the reports were ready for circulation to other sub-committees within two weeks.
The committee chairman noted that though the reports of some sub-committees were available with comments and observations, some are yet to conclude their work.
He reminded the sub-committee members that the Delta Vision 2020 Council and Steering Committee were set up with a mandate to fashion out a long-term development plan for the state.
Okumagba also noted that after the last meeting of the council in September last year, sub-committee reports were considered by the council and observations made.
He said the sub-committees were directed by the council to go back and incorporate such observations.
The committee chairman explained that Friday’s stocktaking was supposed to be an avenue for the 12 sub-committees to present their revised reports to the steering committee.
